Microsoft isn’t quite ready to develop applications for Linux, but the company is finally willing to co-exist with the open source operating system. The software giant is partnering with XenSource to bridge “Windows and Linux with virtualization interoperability.”

Translation: Microsoft is finally willing to admit that customers want to run Windows and Linux side-by-side on the same server. Unfortunately for Microsoft, this realization comes several years after EMC’s VMware cornered the virtualization software market.

Still, you should certainly welcome new competitive choices.
