I got a call Wednesday from Michael Parker, a global product marketing manager for Symantec’s Backup Exec. He’s riding out tropical storm Ernesto in Orlando.
Parker described how many small and midsize businesses now use warm backup sites to manage their IT operations in the event of a primary site disaster.
For VARs, Ernesto and the one-year anniversary of hurricane Katrina provide a timely reminder: Growing businesses need effective storage and off-site recovery strategies for their servers, applications and business data. In other words, there’s never been a better time for VARs to offer storage as a managed service.
Not sure how to get started? Borrow a few ideas from big integrators, such as EDS or IBM Global Services.
