Office 2007: Lookin’ Good
The VAR Guy isn’t a big fan of Microsoft Office. Sure, he uses the productivity applications but he also spends more and more time using online alternatives such as Google Spreadsheets. He’s also mulling a move from Office to OpenOffice. This preference for open, online solutions allows The VAR Guy to more easily share information with workgroups.

WiFi VARs Welcome Motorola/Symbol Combo
The VAR Guy has circled January 9 on his calendar. That’s the day Symbol Technology shareholders are expected to approve the company’s $3.9 billion merger with Motorola. Once the deal is official, the combined companies should have little problem recruiting eager VARs to sell their wares.
