Forget Sin City. The real action is in the other Las Vegas—located in New Mexico. That’s where Solana Technologies, a wireless integrator, is deploying a mesh WiFi system for the city’s police department.
The city-owned and operated network will allow police offers to link to public safety applications while in the field. Potential applications include real-time video within police cars and video surveillance for the police department. The network will initially cover seven square miles using Tropos 5210 outdoor MetroMesh routers.
