If The VAR Guy was building an online marketplace for solutions providers, he’d tap the eBay talent pool for help. That’s exactly what OnForce is doing, having recruited former eBay CTO Marty Abbott to its board of directors.
OnForce says its executive leadership also includes former leaders from HP and PC Connection, representing a mix of marketplace, technology and product expertise.
Similar to the eBay marketplace, OnForce connects buyers and sellers—with a particular emphasis on IT services. VARs can bid on projects around the country, ranging from VoIP deployments to WiFi network installations. During 2006, VARs within the marketplace completed more than 300,000 work orders.
