Novell and Microsoft this evening announced that HSBC is standardizing on Windows and SuSE Linux. A good win, to be sure. This news follows two impressive Novell business developments that The VAR Guy covered earlier today.

Despite Novell’s aparent moment, it’s important to keep the HSBC win in perspective. It’s unclear how many new SuSE Linux servers HSBC will run on as a result of this deal. Plus, it’s unclear whether HSBC’s SuSE Linux license fees are already reflected in Novell’s revenues.
