The VAR Guy loved Michael Jackon’s old Moonwalk. The red leather jacket. The white glove. The dance move no mortal could emulate. Ah, forgive the flashback to the 1980s. The VAR Guy couldn’t resist bringing up the King of Pop when he heard about Moonwalk Inc., an Australian software developer that’s bolstering its U.S. channel presence.

Moonwalk specializes in data protection and management software. The company is partnering with The Lauffin Group to recruit resellers. Moonwalk wants partners to make the software available as a standalone offering or integrated with hardware solutions. The company claims its system is ideal for enterprise environments with tiered storage management platforms, where it can manage the migration, copying and movement of data throughout an organization. Moonwalk’s software supports Windows, UNIX, Netware and Linux environments.

The Lauffin Group Inc. (TLG) helps technology companies to develop, manage and expand their channel presence. Unlike consultancy groups, TLG executives will “roll up their sleeves and become part of their clients’ sales and marketing teams,” the company claims.

Sweet. But can they show The VAR Guy how to do the real Moonwalk?
