The party is over — at least for the short-term — at VMware. Share’s in the company fell 26 percent amid an earnings shortfall and slowing growth rates. Fortunately, The VAR Guy didn’t have any money tied up in VMware. Nor did he write any crazy blog entries predicting that virtualization is the way to ride out an economic slowdown. Besides. he thinks the hot story in virtualization going forward is Parallels Server.

IF VMWare embrased technologies like our V-Ployment the big cost of deployment would go away and their market reach would double or triple. By looking at the challenge to their professional services people and the VAC program they have missed the point. VMWare took Intel/AMD servers to the next level of modernity, VPloyment takes its deployment to the next level, getting hung up on yesterday (trained and expensive people)may indicate they are more concerned with losing what they have than what can be gained going forward
