Be careful of what you ask for. A small company in Miami has launched a $399 Mac compatible computer, and the firm’s Web site apparently wasn’t prepared for all of the traffic that such an offer could potentially produce.

Fortune’s Apple 2.0 blog notes that it’s pretty easy to get Mac OS X running on a generic PC these days. But Apple’s strict licensing terms have prevented PC makers from designing Mac clones.

Still, a small company called Pystar is inviting customers to purchase a PC “capable of running unmodified OS X Leopard kernels,” Fortune notes.

Will Apple try to shut down Pystar’s offer? Actually, Web traffic alone appears to have shut down Pystar already.
