You'd have to earn quite a bit more than that if you're on W-2 to equal that savings. Maybe double? As for me, yy other car is a bike. Since giving up regular employment seven years ago, I commute 2 miles on my fairly old and rusty but works-like-a-charm Mt. Shasta wheels to an office I share with two other entrepreneur-types.
