I agree on Compier intentions.Thay just look down on any free implementation I think thay getting kick back from oracle.

But bravo seem alive in this Mather.I use Mysql just because of the community support. I will not mind to use other database if is open for personal/business use.

So OpenBravo and PostgreSQL.
I think I will check in to that.

I correct myself. Postgres is one of two default databases (Oracle being the other). That’s good. Let’s hope MySQL doesn’t smother Postgres in the guides, how-tos, videos, screen shots, other, etc. going forward.

Now if we could get a port to Perl or PHP instead of Java…

But the big question is: is postgresql “support” a one-off, or is it central to using OpenBravo? I’ve followed Compiere’s site for several years, going back to when the developer(s) was asking for donations to port to Postgres, donations were accepted, but it never reached the magic threshold, Postgres was promised down the line, and several years later (sometime last year iirc) the only postgres info was one or two VARs came up with a script to install Compiere running on Postgres instead of requiring Oracle or MaxDB. If the situation has changed over at Compiere, I don’t know and don’t care anymore, I’m tired of it.

That’s not support for Postgres. I hope the situation isn’t similar for OpenBravo. Are (or will they be) all the docs MySQL centric? All the install guides, user guides, how-tos, videos, screen shots, etc. MySQL centric or will they be? Or is Postgres included in each guide, how-to, video, screen shot?

Java instead of PHP is tough enough to stomach. Failure to cover Postgres in all the docs and everywhere else a newbie or eventual user is going to look for help will only make it worse.
