Shared Technologies, an Elite Nortel Advantage Partner, seems to be hedging its IT bets amid Nortel’s bankruptcy. The Coppell, Texas-based solutions provider has joined the Avaya Business Partner Program. That’s a significant win for Avaya. Here’s why.
Shared Technologies isn’t a mom-n-pop VAR. The company operates in 48 US markets, and has been around since 1974. Translation: We’re talking about a seasoned, large solutions provider with staying power.
The VAR Guy isn’t suggesting that Nortel will face “complete” partner defections during its bankrupcy. But any smart Nortel partner would be looking to hedge their IT bets right now.
Also, Shared Technology’s decision to work with Avaya may have nothing at all to do with Nortel’s bankruptcy. Our resident blogger, though, couldn’t ignore the fact that Shared Technologies has been in Nortel’s camp.
