Are Dell and Hewlett-Packard trading blows in the enterprise networking market? Well, almost. Only a day after Hewlett-Packard launched a data center networking offensive, Dell fired back and rallied channel partners around Cisco Systems solutions. Here’s the scoop from The VAR Guy.

As you may have heard, HP has recruited F5 Networks and numerous other high-tech companies to support a new ProCurve ONE (Open Network Ecosystem) initiative.

Now, Dell is returning fire and aligning more closely with Cisco. Ryan Shopp from Dell Global Channel Marketing has posted a blog, announcing Dell PartnerDirect registered or certified partners can qualify for discounts, deal protection and other benefits when delivering bundled server, storage and networking solutions involving Dell and Cisco.

Shopp doesn’t mention HP by name, but he certainly has a sense for timing. His blog entry surfaces as HP attempts to rally Microsoft, McAfee, F5 and other major IT companies against Cisco.
