Microsoft Skills Week Partner TrainingThe VAR Guy spends considerable time blogging about the emerging open source IT channel. But he can’t ignore Microsoft’s continued channel dominance. The software giant starting this week is hosting more than 175 partner-focused events in North America. The effort will culminate at Tech•Ed in May. Here’s the scoop.

The effort kicked off March 9 with Microsoft Skills Week — which includes:

  • Access to Career Assist: Includes deep discounts for online programs that prepare partners for Microsoft Certified Professional exams.
  • Exam Crams. Quick study sessions to prepare individuals for Microsoft Certification exams.
  • Live Meetings. Sessions with Microsoft technical specialists and Microsoft Certified Trainers who will demonstrate technologies to enhance training and answer questions to enable individuals to prepare for examinations.
  • Exam discounts. Opportunities to get certified on-site at events while saving up to 40 percent on exam fees.

Hmmm. Is Microsoft Skills Week little more than a certification drive by Microsoft? Decide for yourself by visiting http://www.certificationweek.com.
