But, there is still a lot of doubt as to what will happen with MySQL and other OpenSource offerings. Companies typically do not make money from "free" software, so I agree with Incognito. Also, it's ironic that SUN just completed it's acquisition of MySQL a little over a year ago and then both the CEO, Marten Mickos, and the creator, Michael "Monty" Widenius, of MySQL quit just two months ago. I'm saddened such a prestigious company had to fall from grace so quickly, but they had their moment in the SUN (pun intended) and burned themselves up. Sun/IBM made a lot of sense to me. My feeling is that Oracle will cherry pick what it wants and let the rest die. What could Oracle possibly need OpenOffice for or Virtualbox for that matter?
