Imagine the following scenario: You’re an integrator that wants to quickly deploy ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications for your small business customers. Sure, you’re familiar with Microsoft Dynamics ERP. But the folks at Openbravo — an open source ERP provider — would like your attention, too. Indeed, Openbravo says it has launched a QuickStart edition that allows VARs and SMBs to accelerate ERP deployments using on-premise or cloud configurations. Here’s the scoop.

According to Openbravo:

“Openbravo QuickStart Edition [is] a cloud-ready, packaged application to help small and medium businesses (SMBs) save money and time through the optimization of sales, inventory, procurement and accounting processes.”

Openbravo claims the new solution requires 40 to 80 hours of fixed-price installation and customization services — down from about 400 hours for a typical ERP project, asserts Josep Mitja, chief operating officer at Openbravo.

According to the Openbravo press release:

“Openbravo QuickStart is fully functional software, pre-configured to manage core business processes including sales, purchasing, inventory and accounting. The “Cloud Appliance Stack” option delivers fast and scalable cloud deployment, with pay-as-you-go pricing and elimination of expenses related to onsite hardware.”

Where do channel partners fit in? Glad you asked. Openbravo QuickStart is available exclusively through Openbravo Business Partners. Since landing on The VAR Guy’s Open Source 50 report — which tracks the most promising open source partner programs — Openbravo has further grown its partner network.

Can Openbravo really chip away at ERP empires like Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle/Siebel, SAP and NetSuite? Hmmm. It’s difficult to imagine those on-premise and SaaS leaders disappearing anytime soon. Still, Openbravo’s partner network appears to be growing. And the QuickStart aims to accelerate growth — particularly in the SMB market.
