logo-engineyardEngine Yard, which specializes in Ruby on Rails applications, seems to be catching on with channel partners. A case in point: More than 50 companies joined the Engine Yard Partner Network during its first 50 days. The VAR Guy is intrigued. Here’s why.

Ruby on Rails is a popular open source environment for web application development. Engine Yard, as you may have guessed, offers automation tools and a cloud for Ruby on Rails developers.

Over the past two months or so, more than 50 companies have joined Engine Yard’s partner program. According to a company statement, the partner program can…

“connect  customers to a full range of application services for Ruby on Rails including design, development, deployment, and maintenance. Choosing an Engine Yard Partner with Engine Yard products and services helps deliver a highly available, scalable, secure application and a seamless end-to-end experience.”

Lots of lofty claims. But is Engine Yard the real deal? Investors sure think so. To date, the company has raised $37.5 million of funding with participation from Amazon.com, New Enterprise Associates, Inc. (NEA), and Benchmark Capital.

Hmmm… Wise investments? The VAR Guy will be watching.
