Bob Bruce, long a fixture in the technology space, has been tapped to lead Aruba Networks’ channel sales efforts. He’s a bit on Bruce’s background, which includes tours of duty at Cisco Systems, Juniper and Meru Networks.
With more than 30 years of enterprise sales and channel experience, Bruce honed his skills at Juniper Networks, where he was vice president of Americas Channels and head of Western enterprise sales. Before that, he spent time as Vice President of U.S. Channels at Cisco Systems – both companies noted for their channel efforts. Bruce’s position prior to the announcement was vice president of North American Sales at Meru Networks, a wireless networking vendor.
Bruce’s appointment at Aruba Networks will serve the company well as it looks to create more noise in the enterprise wireless space. No doubt Bruce has the chops to implement a sound channel strategy that makes sense to both the vendor and its channel partners, as well as the expertise to bring on a slew of new partners.
Aruba’s wireless networking equipment consistently ranks high among customers, which include health care facilities, universities and other campus-type environments. Aruba also has become a go-to technology for companies that want a robust wireless network but don’t want to work with the Godfather of Networking, also known as Cisco Systems.
And while a lot of ink has been spilled highlighting its technology, Aruba’s channel program to date has been less than breaking news. Hopefully Bruce will be changing that. He’s got good ground to stand on.
