Avaya’s channel VP sees 2010 as a turning point for the channel. How so? Carol Neslund, VP of Avaya’s North American Channel, offers some quick thoughts here.

“I would say next year will be a year of transition as we integrate into one Avaya channel,” said Neslund. “The momentum that has been built so far by the two companies [Avaya and Nortel] is tremendous, and I think we’ll definitely be increasing our momentum and completing the transition.”

With its Nortel Enterprise acquisition less than a week or so under its belt, Avaya and its partners are ready to put the past year behind them, she said.

“It has been a tough year for Avaya and Nortel partners because of the economy, and from Nortel’s perspective they had a double whammy — the economy and the uncertainty [with the sale],” Neslund said. “I predict as we get into the new year and all our partners understand the growth path, this will be a year of tremendous opportunity.”

Neslund points to the Jan. 19 launching of the new Avaya product roadmap, which will incorporate technology from both Avaya and Nortel, as a critical element to help channel partners back on the growth path.

“The product set that we’ll be introducing will be poised to take advantage of the best technologies that both companies can bring to the table, as well as the fact that next year is shaping up to be a transitional and transformational year for our customers as well.

“Our big focus is on returning to growth and helping our partners make that transition. And helping them recover from the last 12 to 15 months,” she added. “We are in a good position with the economy and with our customers expressing interest in next-generation technology. It’s going to be a big year.”
