"Will this become the standard for Netbook OSes?"

Could be. Just like the standard interface for the Smartphones... Oh wait. Oh yeah, just like the standard interface for the Not-So-Smartphones... Hey?

It's time to open up our vision of "normal" just a bit. When someone is at the controls of a communication device that connects them to everyone else with a similar device and can even put them up on stage in front of the World, independent thought is a minimum requirement for using the device. It doesn't matter if it's a smartphone, smartbook, netbook, laptop or the sacrosanct one-size-OS-fits-all desktop. Outside of twisted marketing logic there is no reason to tie everyone to particular GUI, unless that reason is to lock them into a single supplier. Even the rotary telephone was once thought of more by its extremely simply user interface. Look what happened the day after AT&T got whacked by the Department of Justice. What we are witnessing is simply a repeat of that kind of change. Twenty-ten won't be the year of the Linux desktop. It will be the year electronics manufactures express their freedom to put any damn GUI on their devices as they wish.
