A small name change can signify a big shift in thinking. In this case, Trend Micro has rebranded its Worry-Free Business Security Hosted suite of cloud-based security tools. The new brand:  Worry-Free Business Security Services. The effort include a major product-wide upgrade — and compatibility with Trend Micro’s remote management product. Here’s the scoop.

As far as the upgrade goes, Trend Micro’s TJ Alldridge confirmed that Worry-Free Business Security Services has a feature list in line with that of the on-premises Worry-Free Standard solution, offering the same protection from web-based threats minus the relatively insignificant omission of URL filtering. As usual, the press release has all the technical nitty-gritty.

The remote management aspect is what VARs and MSPs should really be interested in, though. Service providers can now handle security for the SMB space off-site — even when said user isn’t connected to the network.

Trend Micro is playing the rebranding as a major channel move, and it’s hard to argue when the new product was designed from the ground up to make life easier for their resellers.
