Storage solution provider Dot Hill Systems Corp. says Winchester Systems will be leveraging their R/Evolution architecture to deliver a new line of ruggedized storage arrays to US military and commercial surveillance customers. Here are the details.
By building on Dot Hill’s existing certified and compliant Fibre Channel networked storage and SAS direct-attach storage, Winchester is ensuring that their new 4GB and 8GB ruggedized storage arrays are ready for any number of field applications, including emergency response, video and broadcast, field exploration, or data acquisition, according to the press release.
Winchester says they chose Dot Hill as their partner in this endeavor because of their mutual experience in providing reliable, high performance rugged storage, but also because Dot Hill’s existing Fibre Channel products were conducive to the vibration and shock tolerance improvements required for ruggedization.
The Fibre Channel solutions coming out of this partnership include the rugged 4Gb Fibre Channel 2722 and 2732, 8Gb Fibre Channel 3720 and 3730, and 8Gb Fibre Channel/1Gb iSCSI hybrid 3920 and 3930, and 2522 and 2532 SAS attached storage arrays, according to that same press release.
And as far as that R/Evolution platform itself, Dot Hill claims it provides OEMs and its channel partners a competitive advantage with maximum go-to-market speed and configuration flexibility using both modular and bladed components.
