Ingram Micro has been officially authorized as North America’s VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP) Aggregator. The expanded relationship means that Ingram Micro’s channel partners offer can offer VMware’s Pay-as-you-go licensing. Here’s the scoop…
VMware’s pay-as-you-go program is designed to be a “flexible purchasing model” so service providers can pay for as little or as many VMware licenses as needed. The net-result of this style of deployment is to allow a more customized virtualized IT Service.
As part of the VSPP authorization, Ingram Micro will also provide service providers with a dedicated licensing desk, channel marketing tools and tech support teams, along with “highly-skilled” virtualization tech support help desk. There’s also market development help for sales efforts both before and after a sale is made.
VMware is hoping that Ingram Micro’s size will help provide awareness of the pay-as-you-go program, along with proliferating and making sales easier.
We’ll be watching for more pay-as-you-go news from this week’s Ingram Micro Cloud Summit in Dallas.
