Software-only cloud storage solution vendor Nexenta Systems says their reseller program gets sign-ups at the rate of one a day. In an effort to keep that momentum going, they’re announcing two new partner plays: the Nexenta Authorized Reseller Partner Program, and the Nexenta Technology Partner Program. I spoke with Nexenta CEO Evan Powell for the scoop on both.
The Nexenta Technology Partner Program, says Powell, is meant to let VARs know which hardware has been certified to work with the NexentaStor software, cutting down on testing time. Hardware partners that attain the Nexenta certification, Powell says, will get marketing and support from Nexenta.
Of more note to VARs is the Nexenta Authorized Reseller Partner Program, which Powell says is meant at certifying those resellers with in-house engineers as good as those at Nexenta. And in return, these certified VARs get 10% of their generated revenue back as joint marketing funds, Powell says. In addition, Nexenta provides as many as ten more points of margin and better support for larger deployments to loyal partners.
We talked a little bit here about Nexenta’s value proposition here, but the gist is that as a software-only vendor, there are plenty of opportunities for resellers to boost margins with the hardware to go along with it.
Nexenta does 80% of its business through the channel, and it looks like they’re trying to enhance that play with moves that are clearly designed to make their partner base happier. We’ll be keeping a close eye on them going forward.
