Great write-up on the contest. Thanks Chris!

Regarding the scope of the project, I'd just like to emphasize that TurnKey is about more than cloud based deployment. These days cloud support gets all the hype but appliances can also be downloaded as an installable Live CD ISO, or as an virtual machine that's ready to run on VMWare and VirtualBox. We want TurnKey appliances to run everywhere.

That matters because we're just a few weeks from launching a backup and migration mechanism that will allow TurnKey users to migrate easily between local and cloud installations. You can setup a bunch of local servers, do all the testing and when you're ready launch them into your cloud provider of choice.

And speaking of cloud providers, if you want to get up and running without having to download anything then we currently support Amazon EC2 through the TurnKey Hub, but we'll be adding more cloud and VPS providers in the future. Hopefully soon.
