The VAR Guy is looking forward to a relaxing weekend with his wife and three kids. But before our resident blogger heads for the virtual exit, here are six channel partner blog entries The VAR Guy didn’t have time to write for the week ending Aug. 20, 2010.

7. VAR-to-VAR Collaboration: 1nService, an organization spanning nearly 40 VARs and solutions providers, is set to host its annual member event Oct. 11-13 in Washington, D.C. The VAR Guy may check it out, just to see how 1nService compares to other peer organizations and VAR groups that promote collaboration.

6. Getting Social: Anybody notice how much CompTIA‘s social media sites have improved since Breakaway 2009? It took some time and effort, but it seems like the the association is on-message with its business-oriented content. You’ll also find more channel media veterans, folks like Larry Walsh, on the CompTIA sites

5. Potential Showdown?: As Rackspace continues to promote Open Stack, The VAR Guy is starting to wonder how the effort will impact the Eucalyptus open source private cloud platform. More thoughts next week…

4. List Fatigue: Joe Panettieri hogs all the credit. But The VAR Guy is sick (and tired) of formatting HTML pages for the third-annual MSPmentor 250 list. The final portions of the report, tracking top managed services executives, debuts today on MSPmentor.

3. Same Setting, Different Date: CompTIA’s recent Breakaway conference was held at the JW Marriott in San Antonio. Apparently, The VAR Guy is heading back to that setting for an Avnet-IBM partner event in October…

2. Money Matters: Both Dell and HP announced financial results this week. No huge surprises. But The VAR Guy continues to wonder who will become HP’s next CEO? (Ann Livermore remains The VAR Guy’s choice.)

1. Check the Headline: This remains a top-six list. There is no No. 1. Never has been. Never will be. Skipping No. 1 means The VAR Guy can move onto his next blog entry that much faster…

Thanks for reading.
