No planes, no trains… but plenty of automobiles this week. The VAR Guy’s schedule was filled with distractions. But he managed to keep his eyes on the IT channel. And there was plenty of chatter worth blogging about… if only the days weren’t so short. Here are six channel partner blog entries The VAR Guy and his team of pundits didn’t have a chance to write for the week ending Sept. 24, 2010.
7. Grabbing the Microphone: Lori Barker has joined Synnex, the specialty distributor, as senior director of investor relations. She previously held similar posts at SanDisk Corp., Remedy Corp. and Symantec Corp. In recent months, Synnex has been building out a range of MSP- and SaaS- solutions for channel partners.
6. Corporate Compliance: Novell’s latest Access Governance Suite 4.1 helps partners with their corporate compliance business practices. The suite is part of Novell’s WorkloadIQ vision, addressing compliance and security challenges across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, Novell says.
5. Reducing RISC: Red Hat and Intel are organizing conferences to help speed migrations from RISC and Unix to Intel and Linux platforms. The VAR Guy spotted details here.
4. Breakfast of Champions?: In case you missed the tweet, The VAR Guy had Whitecastle burgers for breakfast on September 22. Five minutes of pleasure, two days of pain…
3. Membership Has Its Privileges: Symantec this week launched the Symantec Alliance Network, which is a co-marketing initiative designed to help Symantec channel partners uncover new revenue opportunities with joint solutions from Symantec and select alliance partners, the company says.
2. Hot Lead for You?: Microsoft is promoting a lead referral program for Dynamics. The program covers opportunities involving Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, and Microsoft Dynamics POS and Microsoft Dynamics RMS transactions. Hmmm… Our resident blogger will be watching to see if those leads turn into realized revenues for VARs.
1. Check the Headline: This is a top six list. Always has been, always will be. The VAR Guy is too lazy to fill in item 1. It’s time to unplug — at least for a few minutes.
Our resident blogger thanks you for reading.
