As part of their never-ending cloud user drive, Google has updated the Google Apps Migration for Lotus Notes and Google Calendar Connector for Lotus Notes tools. Translation: Google is aggressively targeting the Lotus Notes installed base. In addition to a simpler interface, the updated solutions add improvements to things like security and BlackBerry support.

Here’s the list of key updates, as per the Google Enterprise Blog entry:

  • Support for OAuth, such that mail, calendar and contacts migration doesn’t need a stored administrator and user password.
  • Provisioning of users is now a separate module, so you can verify your users before you make the migration.
  • Better logging to drill down as to the exact migration actions taken.
  • Domino Directory users can be assigned as group owners.
  • Better push synchronization and migrated calendar events for BlackBerry users.
  • Improved, simpler tool interface.

Seems like Lotus is under attack on multiple fronts. In addition to the Google Apps Migration effort, Microsoft partner (and former Google Apps reseller) Binary Tree has been focused on switching Lotus customers to Exchange Online.
