The VAR Guy and his team spent most of this week sprinting through a marathon. Launching a sister site, called TalkinCloud, required some heavy lifting. But there’s no cause for alarm: Reinforcements are on the way. In the meantime, here are six channel partner blog entries The VAR Guy didn’t have a chance to write for the week ending Dec. 10, 2010.
7. Calling In the Techies: SMB Nation has confirmed plans to launch the MVP Nation conference (March 3-4, Seattle) in 2011. Sounds like Harry B wants to go heavy on tech. Sounds like The VAR Guy and other business folks will need to leave their jackets and ties at the door.
6. Be Afraid: Parallels has launched a viral video spoof. Avatar meets Eminem. On the one hand: The VAR Guy didn’t really get jiggy with this. Are there actually marketing budgets for this stuff? On the other: Who can argue with 47,000 video views as of Dec. 10:
5. New Zip Code?: Red Hat is considering a potential headquarters relocation. The VAR Guy’s best guess: Red Hat will stay in its current North Carolina home.
4. Cisco Cius Tablet for Retailers?: Cisco Systems and Verizon are set to host a Retail Store of the Future press briefing on January 9, 2011, in New York City. The VAR Guy quips, “Shouldn’t it be held at an Apple Store?” Sorry. Lame attempt at humor. In reality, the Cisco-Verizon gathering could turn a few heads. Cisco expects to demonstrate the CIUS enterprise tablet during the event.
3. IBM PartnerWorld: The VAR Guy hears Big Blue plans to host a big channel conference in 2011. Invites may go out in the next few days. The VAR Guy is standing at his mailbox… waiting…

Stunningly beautiful film, and the first yet I have seen that makes actual use of 3D not for 3D’s sake, but as an actual useful effect for storytelling. Behind only Inception for my favorites of the year.
