The VAR Guy is dragging a bit this Friday. Despite the recent Holidays, our resident blogger feels like he needs another vacation. Perhaps The VAR Guy will truly unplug this weekend. Seriously. But before The VAR Guy walks away from his keyboard here are six channel partner blog entries he didn’t have time to write for the week ending January 7, 2011.
7. She’s Not Here: Now that SAP Channel Chief Pat Hume has left the company, The VAR Guy just had to ask: Is Hume heading to Oracle? According to an alleged North American source somewhat close to Oracle and somewhat familiar with Oracle’s channel strategy, the answer is no — Hume is not in the Oracle house. Allegedly.
6. Lights, Camera…: Speaking of Oracle, it sounds like the software giant is planning some sort of OPN PartnerCast within the next few weeks. The VAR Guy wonders: Will Channel Chief Judson Althoff reveal any surprises? Hmmm…
5. A Channel Maven Best Seller?: Heather Margolis, better known as The Channel Maven, has launched an eBook that aims to help organizations with their channel partner strategies. Details here.
4. Frequent Blogger Becomes Flier: IBM, Kaspersky Lab and VMware each have started to promote their February 2011 partners summits. The VAR Guy is trying to attend all three conferences — and 96 other channel partner conferences this year.
3. Cloud Profits?: So, are there really VARs, managed services providers and channel experts making profits and driving revenue growth in the cloud? The VAR Guy found the answer. You too can find it here, updated each Friday, courtesy of TalkinCloud.
2. Triple Migraine: The VAR Guy recently shifted to a triple-screen set up because he wants his office to look like a NOC (Network Operations Center). But here’s a question: How come monitor makers and PC makers don’t sell integrated dual-screen and triple-screen set ups. The VAR Guy had to purchase three separate Dell monitors, a Matrox Triple Head2Go box, and a Ergotron Desk Stand to get everything working right. Too bad everything doesn’t come as one integrated solution.
1. Check the Headline: This is a top six list. Always has been. Always will be. So there is no number one, which means The VAR Guy has automated one-seventh of this list every week.
Thanks for reading. The VAR Guy truly appreciates the fact that you keep on coming back for more.

TVG,
Sorry you have a headache, as I know a bit about NOC’s, sounds like you have a nice setup…finally!
Speaking of three monitors, between VAR Guy and your sister publications, I now have each site up on one of my monitors. Quite the Friday afternoon trifecta you have going, and a great way to wrap up the week. The question is, what’s next for 2011? Do tell…
Gerard
Next for 2011? Some sleep this weekend. Then, back to chasing stories Monday (or sooner.)
