RELDATA, a New Jersey-based firm that specializes in unified storage solutions, has announced that industry veteran and former Sun Microsystems VP Victor Walker will be taking the reins of command as the company’s new CEO. That announcement comes alongside the claim that RELDATA’s revenue has grown 135 percent year-over-year — and its reseller program is growing at the same clip. Here’s the scoop.

Walker, according to RELDATA’s press release, has an impressive resume spanning two decades, ranging from serving in the U.S. Army Reserve Corps of Engineers to heading up fellow storage experts ClusterStor as COO ahead of its acquisition by Xyratex and serving as VP of Sun Microsystems’ Storage Systems Product Group. At Sun, Walker headed up the 7000 Unified Storage product line, which has since become the Oracle ZFS line. Bottom line: Walker has storage and start-up experience both.

Here’s some of what Walker had to say on the new gig, as per a prepared statement:

“The growing acceptance and adoption of unified storage systems and the recent market dynamics created by industry consolidation have perfectly positioned RELDATA to become the leading independent storage provider for the next decade. With a fourth-quarter investment of $4 million from our current investors we are well-supported to execute on our aggressive growth plan in 2011.”

Exiting RELDATA CEO Steven Murphy will remain on the company’s board of directors going forward.

If Walker can keep some of that claimed revenue and channel momentum going, we may well hear more about RELDATA in 2011.
