Kasperky Lab is hosting its annual Americas partner conference Feb. 3-6, 2011, in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and while the weather will be a welcome respite from the brutal winter here in the North East, it’s a safe bet partners actually will be more focused on what Kaspersky can do for them.

The 2011 Kaspersky Lab Americas Partner Conference will focus heavily on ways the security vendor can work with its partners to maximize their customers’ investments, according to the company. Kaspersky also plans to roll out its 2011 strategy during the event, which no doubt will include how its recent infusion of capital by General Atlantic will help fund its growth plans — including an apparent hosted security strategy.

For the 200 or so partners attending the four-day confab, it’s also a chance to hear how Kaspersky has fared in the past year up against its competitors in the security space. As a private company, it isn’t obliged to publicize its profits, but IDC put Kaspersky’s growth at an increase of 44.5 percent in 2009, giving it a 5.8 percent overall market share.

No doubt also will be an update of Kaspersky’s channel plans, which is a critical element of its go-to-market strategy. The company is 100 percent channel-focused, and all of its sales come from indirect channels, so it would make sense that partners would get a good, long look at the company’s channel plans for the year ahead.

Provided my flight gets off on time this Thursday, I’ll be covering the event from all angles – channel programs, new technologies and business strategies alike. I’m packing my comfortable shoes with the expectation that this event will keep me running. Meanwhile, throw another log on the fire, stay warm and keep checking back for the latest from Kaspersky and its plans for its partners in 2011.
