Netgear is looking to expand its Smart Business Solutions into the midsized enterprise market with a new 10GE managed switch and free, next-business day, onsite replacement support of parts. Interested? Here’s what VARs and resellers should know…
The new service is called ProSupport and it’s part of Netgear’s ongoing commitment to the mid-enterprise. With ProSupport, users get the aforementioned replacement service with the purchase of a mid-enterprise product. That would include the new ProSafe 24-port 10GE Managed switch, a 10Gbps switch designed to bring data centers up out of the sludge of slower, older network bottlenecks. The switches offer a feature set suitable for large enterprises, but are priced at midmarket levels, according to Netgear.
ProSafe switches also can be used as a top-rack server switch, or as a high-performance core switch with Layer 3 and 4 capabilities. The switches include a simple-to-use interface for monitoring and discovery on the network, as well as managing existing Netgear Layer 2 and 3 switches.
Itching to get your hands on the new networking goodness? The ProSafe 24-port 10 GE Managed L2+ Switch (or XSM7224S for short) is going for $12,090 and a Layer 3 license upgrade can be had for an additional $2,900 in March 2011.
Incidently, the new ProSupport on-site replacement also happens to come complimentary with the recently noted ReadyNAS storage product (which now comes with Acronis backup pre-installed).
