Intel lasvegasIntel’s Solutions Summit 2011 gets under way Feb. 27 at the Venetian Hotel in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada — a venue The VAR Guy knows well. This year’s event is to sure to have something for everyone, and while our resident blogger is no gambler, he’s willing to bet Intel will have an ace or two up its sleeve.

What can we look forward to during the event, other than multicore processors and high-dollar gambling? The VAR Guy has a few ideas, and they all involve the channel. Generally, here’s what The VAR Guy will expect to see at Intel Solutions Summit 2011:

  • The Future: How many cores can fit on a die? CPUs are getting increasingly more complex and powerful, while getting smaller and smaller. Intel wrote the book on CPU size (think Moore’s Law), and with mobile devices becoming the technology of choice for both personal and business use, The VAR Guy will be interested in seeing what Intel will be bringing to the table. Plus, our resident blogger will be on the lookout for whatever Intel is dishing up to beat its closest competitor, AMD.
  • The Partnerships: The Intel Solutions Summits always play host to third-party vendors and distributors with various complementary technologies. The VAR Guy will be taking a look at these partnerships and how they fit into the channel for resellers, ISVs and MSPs.
  • The Vibe: Sure, it’s an Intel conference, but will everyone actually be drooling over Intel’s technology? The VAR Guy will be feeling out channel partners, customers and even Intel execs to determine where Intel shines — and where it needs to up its ante.
  • The Technology Trends: Anytime there’s a congregation of technology users, a trend inevitably will emerge. The VAR Guy will be keeping tabs on those trends, as well as what technology Intel execs are using themselves.

The VAR Guy is staying far away from the gambling floor, betting that the bigger action will be on the conference floor. Stay tuned to find out whether he’s a winner.
