VARs working in the POS space might want to check out Seiko Instruments’ Ascend ISV Program. Specifically aimed at integrating point-of-sale mobile printing and kiosk applications, the program offers POS VARs an additional resource and possible new revenue opportunities. Read on for the details.

For the uninitiated, Seiko Instruments specializes in thermal printing technology. Its Ascend ISV Partner Program is part of Seiko’s efforts to align its hardware development with software vendors to create a seamless experience during deployment.

Flexibility, simplicity and efficiency are the main focus of the partner program, and Seiko is backing up those claims with some partner quotes in its press release. But more importantly, Seiko’s efforts to integrate with popular software vendors allows VARs a wider selection of tools and software to mix and match which when offering a solution. That could save a customer money, while improving a VAR’s bottom line.

ISVs that partner up with Seiko also will have access to factory-trained technical support, drivers, SDKs and other utility tools, along with documentation, sample code and marketing and sales support. Seiko believes its solutions are practical not just for hospitality and retail, but also in the healthcare and government sectors. Partners who are interested can check it out here or follow Seiko on its  Twitter page.

Point-of-sale integration and technology is a continually growing market. It’s also a trend that’s moved beyond the traditional boundaries (near-field communications and even the Square payment device are perfect examples). As more and more currency transactions become digital, POS technology will continue on a parallel path of importance and sophistication.
