Avnet and Cisco Systems are working together to help their partners go deeper into the data center. The two companies have kicked off “The Way Forward Tour” roadshow, which will make its way across the United States (and Canada later) for VARs working with Cisco technology in the data center. VARs looking for a better understanding of current data center momentum might want to take advantage of the caravan …
Education can’t be understated, and that seems to be Avnet’s goal with this Cisco tour. Partners will have access to information on how to sell into the booming data market, understand what kinds of risks and costs customers face when expanding or updating their data center, and generally get a grasp on what’s going on out there with new data center technology. Each of the events on the tour will feature one of two speakers: Barb Goldworm, an industry analyst and president of Focus LLC, or futurist executive director of the IT Leadership Academy Thornton May, and Avnet will be be providing deep-dives into the Cisco UCS architecture. The distributor also will be touting its SolutionsPath offerings, which help VARs navigate through all parts of a sale, providing specific solutions based on popular verticals and businesses.
If you’re ready, you can register for the tour here, or check out Avnet’s press release for the location list and a few supporting quotes. First stop was Irvine, Calif., on May 24, 2011, with the last stop in New York July 12, 2011. Worth noting: Avnet’s decision to foster Cisco UCS momentum comes just after Avnet’s last Cisco-friendly move, which was to provide NetApp and Cisco’s FlexPod packages directly through Avnet.
