The VAR Guy has covered storage company FalconStor in the past, including its recent updates to its PartnerChoice channel program. Now the company hopes to maintain its momentum with its latest executive hires: Former HP director of software support delivery Donna Williams will assume the VP position for Worldwide Technical Support, while former Symantec inside sales executive Abbas Meghjee will be VP of North American Sales Operations. First, a refresher: FalconStor has been making a number of executive appointments after founder ReiJane Huai stepped down in 2010 amid an allegedly questionable sales engagement. In January 2011, FalconStor appointed James P. McNiel as CEO and Symantec veteran John W. Turner to the VP of North American Sales post.

Regardless, Meghjee will oversee the FalconStor sales team, ensuring a constant flow of sales generation. Meghjee’s 12 years of sales in the IT field is what FalconStor believes will ensure Meghjee’s success overseeing North American operations. Meanwhile, Williams will be presiding over the maintenance and growth of FalconStor’s global tech support organization, ensuring FalconStor’s dedication to customer service will always be up to snuff. Williams’ previous experience with HP’s business technology optimization suite is a huge plus for FalconStor, which is looking to capitalize on its storage momentum.

Recently, Polycom promoted its own team to executive positions, and Juniper Networks stole away former Microsoft and Cisco Systems employees. Maybe it’s a sign the economy is improving: As companies grow and reach goals that exceed their expectations, seasoned industry veterans will pop up in new places to help maintain that success. The VAR Guy predicts that partners working with FalconStor may find greater sales opportunities and better ways to manage their customer relationships, especially with the changes the company has implemented since the beginning of 2011, but it’s too soon to say just yet.
