Syncsort and NetApp say they have created a winner with their combined NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup solution (NSB), which has been gaining momentum not just with customers but with the channel as well. Read on for the quick details about the storage solution …
First, a refresher: The NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup solution offers de-duplication and disaster recovery, and according to the two companies creates a simpler way to backup by eliminating backup windows. When we last looked at this solution, Avnet was offering it in the EMEA region. Now NSB has apparently taken off for a multitude of reasons.
The prime customers for NSB are midsized enterprises dealing with a large influx of data, as well as companies focusing in on virtualization — the ability to back up important data while maintaining corporate compliance is becoming a real need in the SMB and SME areas. Organizations including the U.S. Marine Corps (Semper Fi) and Atlantis Luxury Resort are using NSB to meet those compliance issues while not decimating their bottom line. According to NetApp and Syncsort, NSB keeps data backup in line with IT spending budgets and in some instances, actually saves money thanks to de-duplication and more streamlined integrated backup/disaster recovery options.
NSB is also allowing many NetApp resellers to move deeper into their existing customer relationships, and in the last nine months more than 100 channel partners have climbed on board with Syncsort to resell NSB. Like almost all channel programs, Syncsort is offering training resources and other educational materials to help partners understand and sell the solution. The company is also providing three partner proficiencies on the solution: Authorized, Select and Elite.
I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but data needs and the need for sophisticated data solutions are ongoing in the channel. We’ve see the data momentum constantly expanding, from Dell to CoreVault and Rorke Data. If you’re a partner not focusing on storage on some small level, you might want to reconsider.
