Security remains top-of-mind at Tech Data. The latest example: Tech Data has inked a distribution agreement with Webroot, a security solutions provider that targets businesses and consumers alike. Here are the potential implications for Tech Data’s channel partners.
Webroot provides classic endpoint security, in addition to Web-based security, offering a blanket of protection against identity theft and malware, the company says.
Tech Data already works with a lengthy list of security companies. But Webroot combines cloud-based Internet security with traditional endpoint security, so the potential market opportunity is quite large for VARs and MSPs that serve everyone from small businesses to midsize enterprises.
Tech Data says it’s working with Webroot to provide resellers with demos for customers; education and hands-on product training; and access to the Webroot sales teams. Tech Data’s Webroot lineup will include:
- Web Security Service: Offering web filtering and malware protection, for any company or any consumer.
- AntiSpyware Corporate Edition with AntiVirus: Webroot claims this offering is quick for rubbing out malware.
- Internet Security Complete: Webroot’s hybrid security, which works with endpoint and cloud technology to ensure privacy protection, data loss protection and traditional viruses and malware are blocked.
Webroot’s Internet Security Essentials and AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper are also available for the consumer or a customer with less intensive security needs. Bottom line? Yet another toolset in the arsenal for VARs, covering both the emerging needs of cloud solutions and traditional on-premise security.
