Virtualization and zero-client company Pano Logic is hitting the scene with two new all-inclusive virtualization packages: servers, clients and software, all pre-packaged, pre-configured, bundled and ready to go right out of the box. They represent the next evolution of Pano Logic’s Pano Express, specifically geared for the SMB and remote offices. Read on for the details …

Both Pano Express SMB and Pano Express HA are built to support 30 and 60 power users respectively, in addition to the zero-client endpoints. Pano Logic calls them a “one-step VDI solution” since all the software and servers are preloaded with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows Sever 2008. But the HA version stands out in that it will allow for a storage protection layer via DataCore for VDI failover.

Pano Logic sees these packages as ideal for branch offices or educational departments where infrastructure is limited or resources to maintain traditional VDI deployments are not available. For partners working in the SMB space, Pano Express SMB and Pano Express HA are a welcome addition, said Dana Loof, executive vice president of worldwide marketing at Pano Logic. “… This is a highly desired package that a lot of our partners are looking to sell,” Loof said.

Since Pano Logic is taking partner feedback into account, Loof also noted the new packages will “click with channel partners [because] our secret sauce is the ability to stretch the system-bus over the network. It enables partners to plug and play … into any infrastructure. You’re not held in a box.” Rather, there’s ease of compatibility when “… you have a customer that has a heterogeneous environment, where they have Citrix on one side and VMware on the other.”

So how much for this little virtualization bundle of joy? The Pano Express SMB comes in at $30,099 in a 30-seat bundle, outfitted with the aforementioned vSphere VMWare and Windows Sever 2008 in addition to the 30 Pano Zero clients. Pano Express HA is more expensive, and includes two servers for the DataCore backup, which works out to about $72,000 for a 60-seat package. It’s all available right now to channel partners.
