After Enrique Salem delivers his vision for Symantec, The VAR Guy will be treated to a few interesting briefings.

  • Randy Cochran, Symantec’s Channel Chief, will discuss the “state of the channel” for Symantec at the close of the day, but The VAR Guy will also get to chat with Cochran during a roundtable discussion. The VAR Guy wants to know, how many of Symantec’s new technologies including O3 will be trickling down to the channel, and if so, how soon?
  • Tiffany Bova from Gartner will be giving a presentation, presumably on the facts and figures of the IT scene and how that relates to Symantec. It’ll be interesting to note what key trends Gartner finds, and which ones Symantec will align themselves. Our resident blogger has a hunch there will be a strong focus on tablet security and data loss prevention.
  • Most importantly, The VAR Guy will be privy to a few one-on-one conversations with a handful of Symantec partners. Where better to get the vibe on the scene than from the partners themselves? Last year, partners were generally positive about their relationship Symantec, so our resident blogger will see if that sentiment continues. The VAR Guy will also check out what markets are proving successful for growth and what opportunities partners are seeing for growth, be it cloud, virtualization or something else altogether.
