IBM partners working with Avnet now have access to new analytical programs designed to give them an edge when attacking vertical business markets. Avnet will be working to deliver “Destination: Analytics” with IBM to U.S. and Canadian partners in the form of new training tools and marketing opportunities. Here’s the rundown …

Avnet’s Destination: Analytics is more than a division of Avnet — it’s actually a team of “experts” that will be helping partners with all the aspects of the new program. Destination: Analytics’ key priorities will be on “four main areas” that cover the needs of IBM partners reaching for the vertical. According to the release, those categories are:

  • Helping business partners identify the market opportunity and their role in it;
  • Providing partners with the sales and technical skills needed to pursue market opportunities;
  • Accelerating partners’ ability to develop qualified prospects;
  • Enabling partners to leverage vertical market expertise to grow their business analytics businesses.

It should come as no surprise at all that Avnet is pushing the new IBM program along with its own vertical-focused SolutionPath avenues, and naturally, Avnet said IBM partners can get the most by combining the two solutions.

Avnet continues to add specialization programs that link nicely with its vertical SolutionPaths. Such programs include the Data Center University, which Avnet has positioned as a gateway to specific SolutionPaths, and CloudReady, which goes hand in hand with Avnet’s Cloud Workshop and RetailPath for POS-focused VARs. But this is more than a trend, it’s actually a series of calculated moves. Turn the clock back nearly a year, and you’ll remember The VAR Guy reported on this exactly: Avnet has been building a “Vertical Market Dream Team” with a robust VP lineup. Avnet’s IBM analytic partnership is just a redoubling of that focus.

We’ll continue to keep tabs on Avnet as it evolves its programs, analytics and vertical-focused offerings to create more opportunities for VARs.
