F5 Networks has joined forces with NetApp and VMware to make VM server migration disruptions a thing of the past. And just like the new VM migration, the new partnership details are short, simple and sweet. Read on and find out …

Inside megasized data centers or private enterprise clouds, servers get slammed with requests from end users. When it comes time to scale out, burst out or simply reallocate resources, users could end up dealing with hiccups in their normal routine. To change all that, F5 Networks is leveraging its BIG-IP networking technology with NetApp’s FlexCache technology and VMware’s vSphere vMotion technology to essentially create the mother of all migration solutions.

According to the press release, this VM traveling trifecta can “… optimize performance to improve the effectiveness of live migrations of virtual machines as well as applications that were not originally designed for distributed deployment.”

Anytime unplanned downtime is mitigated, that’s good news, and happy end users often mean happy IT admins. For VARs working in any of the three communities, you’ll be happy to know all the products that have been tweaked to work together are available now. VARs working in large vertical or enterprise industries also may want to check on customer renewals and see if this solution can’t fit their needs. For all VARs working in virtualization or cloud-based areas, increased interoperability is always a boost to productivity and efficiency.

Are we detecting an collaboration trend? Maybe. Be sure to check out Red Hat and Cisco’s moves to push RHEL into the cloud, along with the VDI Coalition.
