D-Link is bringing new switching hardware to the SMB space, designed specifically to be compact and power-efficient, in addition to offering some traffic optimization features. Specifications and price tags on the four new routers follow …

D-Link’s lineup includes four specific switches, the DGS-105/108 and the DES-105/108, featuring five and eight ports respectively, but two distinct functionalities. The DSG is D-Link’s Gigabit line, while the DES is the Fast Ethernet version. Aside from the speed, the lines are essentially the same and feature the following perks:

  • Self-managed switches
  • Built-in cable diagnostics
  • Ruggedized metal enclosure
  • Energy-efficient Ethernet

The Gigabit units also support IEEE 802.1p QoS, ensuring traffic prioritization and optimization for specific content such as VoIP or streaming video. The aforementioned energy-efficient Ethernet ensures a port is completely shut down when a computer is too, which, according to D-Link, can save “up to 85 percent on power consumption.”

The best part is, they’re all priced at very friendly prices. The DGS-105/108 are $55 and $69 respectively, while the DES-105/108 go for $30 and $45. And naturally, they’re available for and from channel partners, as well as other traditional outlets.
